At The Main Event, excellent customer service is our number one priority. We have catered events of all sizes and types. We will work within any budget to make your event come to life.

We have answered a few common questions below, but please contact us with any other questions you might have.

Weddings & Special Events

Is The Main Event a wedding or event coordinator or planner?

No, our focus is on providing the best food in the industry. We can direct you to planners and coordinators, and for many events, you will only need a caterer. Feel free to call us to discuss this further.

How far in advance do I need to send in my inquiry and make initial contact?

Ideally, clients will contact us two to six weeks or more in advance. This allows us to carefully hone in on the details and desires of each client.  All of this depends on the needs of each client and the preparations they have already made in selecting their menu, the flexibility of their budget, etc.

A friend of mine had an event catered for a certain dollar amount, but your quote was higher or lower – why is that?

Our quotes change based on a multitude of reasons. Every client is different and has different needs, and our prices are always subject to change. Set up a meeting and we can work with you to meet all budgeting needs.

I have eaten at City Grocery a thousand times, can I get Shrimp and Grits from there?

The luxury of being a part of the restaurant group is the continuity of our Chef John Currence. We can pull recipes from all of our restaurants or ones that have yet to grace our menus. We are happy to take suggestions from each client. And yes, Shrimp and Grits is a definite yes.

Bar Options

I want a licensed caterer to provide bartending services at my event, but I don’t need food and servers. Can The Main Event provide just bartending?

Absolutely. We have an alcohol license that allows us to serve wine, beer and liquor. We can provide the alcohol and bartenders based on your needs.

I have the alcohol, can I just get a bartender?

Absolutely. Prices vary per hour and depending on the number of guests and bartenders needed.

Can I specify what brands of wine, beer, and liquor is at my bar event?

Of course, depending on the varieties, your price point may vary.


Is there an order cut off period?

Due to high demand and that all of our food is created in-house, all tailgating orders must be place no later than 5:00pm CST the Tuesday before the game.

Can I special order items that are not on the tailgate menu?

All special orders will be taken into consideration if placed two week prior to the cut off time (5:00 pm CST the Tuesday before the game), but are all considered on a case-by-case basis.

Does The Main Event deliver to the Grove?

At this time, we do not deliver to the Grove. All of our orders are to be picked up at designated times at 1005 North Lamar Blvd. Oxford MS 38655.

There are, however, tailgating pick up services in town that will pick up your food items and deliver them to your tent for certain fees.

Does The Main Event set up tents?

No, but we do recommend our friend Kyle Thornton at Seven South Tailgating for tent setups and rentals.

I want to order food in different increments than is on the tailgate order form - can I do that?

Unfortunately, we cannot change our increments due to large demand during tailgate pick-up mornings.
